How much money do I need for a New Zealand student visa?
You must evidence NZ$20,000 per year of living costs — or NZ$1,667 per month for courses shorter than 12 months — in addition to paying your tuition fees.
What post-study work rights do I get?
Graduates of Level 7 bachelor’s degrees and above can generally apply for a Post-Study Work Visa of up to three years. Level 4–6 graduates may be eligible for a 6-month Short-Term Graduate Visa to secure accredited employer sponsorship.
Can my partner and children come with me?
Partners of students in eligible programs can apply for a work visa, and dependent children can study at New Zealand schools as domestic students. Eligibility depends on your course level.
Is New Zealand cheaper than Australia?
Tuition is broadly comparable, but living costs outside Auckland are typically lower than in Sydney or Melbourne. The required living-cost evidence is NZ$20,000 versus A$29,710 in Australia.
