Our head office is in Sydney. Your counsellor is in the same country you are moving to.

Australia FAQ

Australia questions, answered properly.

These are the five questions we are asked most often about Australia.

Ask a different question
What is the Genuine Student (GS) requirement?

The GS requirement replaced the old Genuine Temporary Entrant test. You answer targeted questions about your circumstances, your reasons for choosing the course and provider, and what the qualification will do for you afterwards. It is the single most common reason Australian student visas are refused — we prepare this with you properly rather than handing you a template.

How much money do I need to show for an Australian student visa?

You must evidence A$29,710 for 12 months of living costs, plus your first year of tuition and your travel costs. Funds can come from your own savings, a genuine education loan or an eligible sponsor. We review the source and history of your funds before lodgement, because how the money arrived matters as much as the balance.

Can I work while studying in Australia?

Yes — 48 hours per fortnight while your course is in session, and unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks. Students on a masters by research or PhD have unlimited work rights.

Can I bring my family with me?

Dependants can be included in your student visa application. For postgraduate students, partners generally receive full work rights. We assess your course level and financial capacity before including family members.

Does studying in Australia lead to PR?

It can, but only if the course is chosen with that in mind. Occupation lists, points scores, regional incentives and English scores all matter. We map the pathway before you enrol — not after you graduate.
